A Message from the President
On behalf of the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce, welcome to Ellsworth and the extended surrounding area. Ellsworth is a unique blend of its rural culture roots and small town feel yet blended with a Twin Cities influence.
Our community is located in the geographical center of Pierce County and is proud and privileged to serve as the County Seat. Our County Courthouse built in 1905 is modeled after the state capital in Madison and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Ellsworth was named after Civil War Colonel, Elmer E. Ellsworth, platted in 1862 and incorporated under Wisconsin laws in 1887. Ellsworth is considered part of the metropolitan area of the Twin Cities, just 30 miles away. Also, Ellsworth is the intersection of four major highways, Highways 10, 63, 65, and 72 for ease of access and commute. Governor Anthony S. Earl proclaimed Ellsworth the Cheese Curd Capital of Wisconsin in 1984. Ellsworth is a host to numerous celebrations and festivals each year including the annual Cheese Curd Festival the last full weekend in June which showcases cheese curds produced here at the Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery, the annual Polka Fest and Old Car Club Show in July, the annual Pierce County Fair in August, along with several other community events. The Chamber is active in promoting events that provide networking opportunities for business and individuals, where members can volunteer and enhance their business and community. Joining the Chamber is of great benefit to businesses and individuals; the Chamber is here to assist our members. Together and working together we are excited about this community’s growth and our mission of “BUILDING A BETTER COMMUNITY”. Local Governments strive to keep taxes reasonable and work with the Chamber to nature a business-friendly atmosphere. Ellsworth’s great location is near many recreational opportunities, including the Mississippi and the St. Croix rivers, state and local parks, hiking trails and many beautiful golf courses. Ellsworth is the hub of Pierce County’s 210 miles of snowmobile trails. Several nearby streams and rivers provide outstanding trout fishing. Ellsworth features two parks; Summit Park, home of the Ellsworth Hubber’s Baseball Team and Bob Young Ball field and the historical East End Park located on Hwy 10 which is a favorite spot for tourists and motorists passing through Ellsworth. Ellsworth is a wonderful place to live and work and be a part of. We welcome you to our community. Sincerely, Matthew Anderson Chamber President |
