Design Ellsworth: The Report

A Turning Point for our Community
In October 2018, members of the Ellsworth community came together for a weekend that would shape our future. A team of 17 planning and design professionals, supported by UW Extension’s Community Vitality & Placemaking program, joined local stakeholders for a three-day workshop to envision what Ellsworth could become. Through community input sessions, brainstorming, and conceptual sketches, we uncovered a shared vision for a thriving, connected, and vibrant village.
This effort sparked real change. From the new Ellsworth Public Library to the Village’s Community Development Authority, the creation of the Ellsworth E3 Community Development Corporation, and volunteer-led initiatives like Ellsworth Trails and Ellsworth Arts—many of today’s improvements began with this pivotal moment and the Design Ellsworth Report continues to guide our efforts today.
If you missed taking part, or want to refresh your memory on the results of this community-shaping weekend, we invite you to read the report to see how far we've come.
