Chamber News

Awards Banquet!  Thanks to all who attended our Annual Awards Banquet last night!  We enjoyed a fabulous dinner thanks to the VFW and American Legion, desserts from The BakeShop & More, and entertainment from our very own Chamber Ambassadors!  Congratulations to all our award winners:  Pierce Pepin Cooperative, Business of the Year; Barry Cain, Community Person of the Year; Lorna Ross, Most Valuable Volunteer; and Tracy Webb, Ambassador of the Year!  Winners were presented with plaques and “Elly” trophies, too!  Youth Ambassadors Abbey Ristow and Halle Hatch were presented with $500 scholarships for their service.  Congratulations to all our door prize winners: Pam Hartung, Pat Miller, Randy Campbell, Martha Hartung, and Halle Hatch.

Spring Fever Expo March 17!

Showcase your business at the Spring Fever Expo this St. Patrick’s Day, from 9 am – 1 pm at the High School Gymnasium!  Wireless internet is available at the Expo.  Find the registration form here.  You may still place a sponsorship ad for $25 even if you are unable to exhibit.  Contact Sarah for details.

Business After 5!  It’s time to get back in the groove with fun, casual, evening networking!  Our Business After 5 meetings are a way to showcase your business to other Members.  To host a Business After 5 event at your business, simply contact Sarah at the Chamber Office!  We are looking at hosting quarterly events:  April, July, October, and January.  You pick a date and time, we’ll get the invites out, and you provide an appetizer for guests.  Members get a chance to network, learn more about services/products offered in our area, snack and have a chance to win door prizes!

All Dressed Up!  Please see the flyer for information about the prom wear drive going on now through March 29, from Youth Action Hudson.  It would be greatly appreciated if you would print and display a flyer at your business to support a great cause!

Celebrations planned for Ellsworth’s 150th!  Several events have been planned in the upcoming months to celebrate Ellsworth’s Sesquicentennial, the first occurring Saturday, March 3rd, beginning at 2 pm at Broz Bar, where events will include a Euchre Tournament, Chili Cook-Off and Beard Contest.  The Chili Contest will begin at 4 pm, when the photos of clean-shaven participants will be taken. Contestants are asked not to shave until Sunday, June 24, during Cheese Curd Festival weekend (they will be given a button to explain their status during that period). Then, the best beards will be judged in the following categories:  Best Handlebars, Most Unique, Full Beard and People’s Choice.  The winners in the first three categories will be given trophies, while the people’s choice winner receives $150.  The chili judging begins at 5 p.m. March 3, with awards being presented for first, second and third.  Euchre winners will receive $150, $50 and $25, respectively.  To register for the cook-off and euchre tournament, contact Sarah at the Chamber Office.

Sponsorships!
The Cheese Curd Festival is seeking sponsorships for this year’s event!  Support Ellsworth’s 150-year history and be a part of this special celebration!  Find the commitment form here.

Membership!  Download the 2012 Membership Form here; please submit your forms ASAP.  Invoices were mailed or e-mailed last week; contact Sarah if you did not receive an invoice.  Also, 2012 Member Decals are now available!

New resident welcome bags!  The EACC is now coordinating the collection of materials for welcome bags to be disbursed to new residents of our community.  All Chamber Members are invited to participate by placing brochures, coupons, trinkets, etc. in the bags at no charge.  This is an excellent opportunity to advertise your business and create an inviting impression to new residents.  Please contact the Chamber Office to coordinate receipt of your materials.
