Residential Garbage Information
The Village of Ellsworth has a contract with Veolia Environmental Services for collection of refuse and recycling. Pickup is done Monday. If Monday is a holiday, pickup is done on the following Tuesday. Refuse and recycling should be placed at the curb by 6:00am on the day of pickup. If you need a new recycling bin, they are available at the Village Hall.
Refuse. Use up to a 30 gallon bag, maximum weight limit of 40 pounds; each bag must have a sticker placed on it for pickup. Stickers come in a sheet of five for $14.00 per sheet. Stickers may be purchased at the Village Hall, Hinck's Economart, Freedom Valu Center and Holiday gas stations. As an alternative to using the sticker method, you may choose the option of a 65-gallon cart service at $15.00/month or a 95-gallon cart service at $17.00/month, billed on your quarterly utility bill. Sign up at the Village Hall, 130 N. Chestnut St. Note that the form needs to be completed by the property owner (by Landlord if you are a renter). The hauler has the right to charge $55/cart to replace lost or broken carts, as the result of negligence of the resident. Note: Garbage dumpsters are not allowed in residential areas on a permanent basis.
Recycling. Veolia Environmental Services will provide one 18-gallon receptacle/unit at no charge; the bin is issued to that address and must stay at that address. Hauler has the right to charge $6.00/receptacle for lost or broken receptacles, as the result of negligence of the resident. Recycling must be placed in this bin for pick-up. Recycling charge is $7.95/quarter which is billed on your quarterly utility bill. Recycling information is available at the Village Hall, 130 Chestnut St. N. Additional bins are available at the Village Hall.
Contact area waste haulers for pick-up of additional items or the Pierce County Department of Solid Waste, located on Hwy 65 North of Ellsworth, at 715-273-3092.
