Did you know that...
- East Ellsworth once had two breweries?
- The first gas pumps in Ellsworth were located there?
- There was a busy hotel and the building still stands today--Can you guess which one?
- There was a popular eating establishment, Midget Cafe, that was so small it consisted of just two booths and 10 stools?
Yes, looking at East Ellsworth today, it's hard to believe that it was once bustling with commerce and all the modern amenities of the day! What happened to this little town that once had its own zip code? Could looking at the past help us to see a new and prosperous future for this part of our downtown?
For our November member meeting, we’re pleased to welcome Julie Huebel and Pat Mory from the Pierce County Historical Association. They’ll be sharing the dramatic history of East Ellsworth, and in stark contrast to today, give us all a glimpse into this once thriving business district and the potential for future prosperity it holds.
*NOTE: This meeting is being held a week earlier than usual due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Registration deadline: Wednesday, November 20, 2019.
